Competing in a crowded US skincare category where AI-generated answers increasingly decide who gets seen at all.
Named as the recommended answer inside Google's AI Overview and the featured snippet for "best 24k gold serum in USA" and related buyer-intent queries.
Why this one matters
For a D2C skincare brand selling into the US, the buyer's journey now often starts — and sometimes ends — inside an AI answer. If Google's AI Overview names a "best" product for a category, that recommendation carries enormous weight. The goal here was simple to say and hard to do: become the answer.
What I did
This was Generative Engine Optimization and Answer Engine Optimization in practice. I built genuinely authoritative, entity-clear content around the product and category — expert buying guides that answer the exact question directly, with structured comparisons, clear specifics, and the first-hand detail that signals real expertise. No manipulation; just content good enough that an answer engine is comfortable citing it.
The result
For "best 24k gold serum in USA", Google's answer names the brand outright as the clear pick, citing the brand's own expert guide.
Google's AI answer for a high-intent US query naming the brand and citing its expert guide.
Cited again in the AI Overview for a related category term, "best 24k gold elixir".
The takeaway
AI search rewards clarity and credibility. When your content is the most genuinely useful, specific and trustworthy answer to a buyer's question, answer engines don't just rank it — they hand it to the buyer as the recommendation.
